House System

History of Belfield Metric Higher Secondary School

House System

The House system aims to give students an identity and sense of pride in a supportive, secure environment. The Houses provide a positive competition and closer rapport between students and teachers. They also aim to help new staff and students adapt to the culture of BMHSS.

Every pupil and staff member at BMHSS is assigned a house. The House system is a long standing tradition that enhances competition, promotes good behavior, teamwork and provides an opportunity for students to take on responsibilities.

In order to develop the competitive edge among the students, the school is divided into four “Houses”. They are SNOW BELLS (Green), HARE BELLS (Red), BLUE BELLS (Blue) and MERRY BELLS (Yellow). The Houses compete in a number of sporting, academic and cultural activities for points. Each year the winning House receives the House shield and other prizes.
